Hand Feeding Puppies

Puppies understand a pack (family) unit, with one leader, and ranking members. A pup's first alpha is their mother who provides food, protection, and security. For us to become the pack leader, we must become the food provider. We can accomplish this by controlling the puppy's food supply. You can imitate mom by feeding a daily ration as follows:

  1. Withhold food until your puppy is hungry.
  2. Call your pet to you on your terms (not when he/she is asking for food)
  3. Feed a portion (1/20 th ) of the day's food ration to your pet from your hand.
  4. Pet the pup on top of the head while he is eating then turn and walk away.

Repeat this procedure approximately 20 times daily or until all of the daily ration of food is gone. All family members should take turns and all be involved in this process so your pet knows all who provide alpha leadership which equals love and devotion.

Patience is a virtue with this process but well worth the end result.
