“Preventive medicine is our highest priority.”
The doctors and staff of Den Herder Veterinary Hospital take great pride in the preventative
medicine protocols designed to keep your pet a healthy and active member of your family. Most people are unaware their pets can tolerate up to 100 times more pain than humans before they start acting sick. This means finding illnesses prior to your pet acting sick can be very difficult. We have found many effective ways to help keep your pet healthy and detect signs of illness so we can treat them prior to them actually acting sick. We encourage twice-yearly wellness exams, appropriate vaccinations tailored to your pet's exposure risks, monthly parasite control, pre-surgical blood screening, wellness blood-screening and urine testing
for age appropriate patients, as well as specific care for senior patients. We also teach you how to take care of your pet at home to ensure you are doing everything possible to keep your pet healthy. Prevention at home includes cleaning ears weekly, brushing teeth, providing a good diet, providing appropriate amounts of exercise, only allowing certain treats, administering monthly parasite control, and grooming. By providing a high standard of prevention, you get the privilege of keeping your pet healthy as well as saving a significant amount of money by preventing or treating illnesses early before it is too late.
We know we cannot prevent all disease, but in the event that your pet should get sick, we provide the highest standard of sick patient care possible. A veterinarian is available to you 24 hours a day and we encourage you to call after hours with any problem you might have. We know that early treatment can save time and money, but most importantly, early treatment gets your pet better faster. We approach sick patients with aggressive diagnostics to get the quickest diagnosis and start on the appropriate treatment as soon as possible. We are equipped with blood machines, urine analyzer, digital radiography, video endoscope, and ultrasound to aid with quick and efficient diagnosis and speedy recovery.
