Chemotherapy

We are happy to offer compassionate, personalized cancer care close to home.

At Den Herder Veterinary Hospital, we understand how difficult a cancer diagnosis can be. Our goal is to provide pets and their families with clear guidance, advanced treatment options, and compassionate support every step of the way. We offer a variety of chemotherapy services designed to improve both quality of life and longevity for our patients.

Comprehensive Cancer Treatment Options

Injectable chemotherapy: our hospital provides several injectable chemotherapy options for dogs and cats. These treatments are administered safely in our hospital under close veterinary supervision. Treatments are tailored to each patient’s condition, weight, and response to therapy, and pets are monitored carefully before, during, and after each session.

Oral chemotherapy: for some cancers, oral chemotherapy medications can be administered at home. These may be used alone or in combination with injectable treatments. Our team provides detailed instructions on dosing, safety precautions and monitoring so that owners can feel confident giving medication at home while maintaining regular check-ins with our veterinary team.

Surgical options: in some cases, surgery may be the most effective way to treat or manage certain cancers, such as localized mast cell tumors and various types of sarcomas. Our experienced veterinarians perform surgical tumor removals and work closely with board certified surgeons when advanced surgery is necessary. Surgery may be combined with chemotherapy to help reduce the risk of recurrence and slow down the progression of cancer.

Oncology consultations for complex cases: while we do not have a veterinary oncologist on site, we partner closely with a veterinary oncologist for case review and treatment planning for complex or non-routine cases. Our team coordinates these consultations seamlessly so you can remain confident in your pet’s ongoing treatment plan.
