Emily Meier, DVM
Dr. Emily Meier was born and raised in Waterloo, IA. When not studying, she spent her youth practicing martial arts and taking care of the several different species of family pets, which included rabbits, parakeets, finches, lovebirds, hamsters, gerbils, hermit crabs, guinea pigs, a leopard gecko, and several species of fish (just to name a few). She started working at Den Herder Veterinary Hospital as a member of the kennel staff and veterinary assistant in 2011. She earned her Biology BS from the University of Northern Iowa in 2016. She continued her education at Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine where she earned her DVM in 2021.
Dr. Meier developed a driving passion for veterinary medicine from a very early age. She loves treating all animals of every shape and size, with an emphasis on exotic species and wildlife. Dr. Meier thrives on the challenge of exotic animal medicine and actively expanding medical knowledge and services provided at Den Herder Veterinary Hospital for all companion species. Dr. Emily enjoys all aspects of general medicine with additional emphasis on dentistry and soft tissue surgery for companion animal and exotic animal species.
Dr. Meier lives with her husband, three children, and cat Hazelnut. When not working at the veterinary hospital, she enjoys spending time with her family, being active and exercising, cooking, and baking. She is excited to be back working at Den Herder Veterinary Hospital and is dedicated to providing the best exotic care in the Cedar Valley.
