Garrett Knudson, DVM
Dr. Garrett Knudson is a Waterloo native who was very excited when presented with the opportunity to practice veterinary medicine in his hometown. After graduating from Waterloo Columbus, he studied Human Physiology at the University of Iowa as he weighed careers in human and veterinary medicine. Ultimately, his love for animals won out and he continued his studies at the Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Following graduation from veterinary school, he began practicing at Den Herder Veterinary Hospital in the summer of 2019. He loves his job because of the people he works with – both clients and staff. Den Herder’s knowledgeable and talented staff make for a fun workplace where everyone works together to provide patient care to the best of our abilities. He also enjoys his job because of the variety it offers; no two days are the same and the learning opportunities are endless as veterinary medicine continues to evolve. Personally, Dr. Garrett is interested in all areas of general practice, but especially enjoys surgery/anesthesia, internal medicine, and ultrasonography. When away from the office, he is usually spending time with family and friends, on a golf course or hiking trail, or taking in a football or basketball game.
