Leah, VA
My name is Leah, I am from Cedar Falls, and I am a veterinary assistant at Den Herder. (I’m also a Virgo!) I started at DHVH in the beginning of 2025 and have loved it since. My favorite part is seeing all the new puppies and kitties, our rockstar staff, and all the super cool stuff I get to learn.
I enjoy spending my free time hanging out with friends, going for walks, or watching my favorite comfort TV shows. These days I stay very busy with school and work, but I am so grateful that I get to do so. I also love to hang out at my parent’s house with my younger sister and our two dogs, Chief and Gemini. They love to play ball, snuggle, and be SUPER naughty! Despite all the scrounging and barking at the mailman, they’re very loved.
I’ve learned so much about veterinary medicine, but learning about exotic animals has been especially enlightening. That being said, I’m still pretty nervous around snakes. I also enjoy observing x-rays and ultrasounds, working in our pharmacy, and my shifts at our front desk as a customer service representative. There’s so much learning opportunity working at a veterinary hospital and it definitely keeps me on my toes.
In the next couple of years, I anticipate staying close to home and working in healthcare. Although I have always been a dog person at heart, since joining the team at Den Herder I am finally considering becoming a cat mom…so maybe the future also holds a whole bunch of pets. 🙂
I was so excited to join the Den Herder team, but my wonderful experience here went beyond my expectations. I’ve since met so many great pets, been guided by outstanding leaders, and learned so much about caring for our patients.
