Samantha Teply, DVM

Dr. Teply was born and raised in Dubuque, IA and grew up boating, tubing and skiing on the Mississippi river. She received her bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Northern Iowa before attending the Iowa State College of Veterinary Medicine, where she earned her DVM in 2018. During her time at UNI she played for the Panther softball team which is how she met her husband Jay, who was a fellow student athlete on the UNI football team. They have a deep love for the purple and gold in their household (Go Panthers!). Dr. Teply and her husband Jay have two kids, Cooper and Brooklyn and two Golden Retrievers, Myka and Halle. She feels very privileged to have a career that allows her to create and nurture relationships with both pets and their families on a daily basis and to be there for support and guidance through both the celebrations and the challenges. Her daily motivation is to practice medicine in a way that allows families to feel empowered, informed and encouraged when it comes to their pet’s health. She love having a career that allows her to be creative, challenge her skills and learn new things but some of her absolute favorite parts of the job are dentistry and emergency medicine. When Dr. Teply is not at the clinic she enjoys spinning and running, interior decorating (especially for the holidays), spending time on her family’s pontoon boat and cooking. She is very excited to be practicing in the Cedar Valley and to be a part of the Den Herder team and tradition.
