Samantha Teply, DVM
Dr. Sam Teply was born and raised in Dubuque, IA. She received her bachelor’s degree in biology with a minor in coaching from the University of Northern Iowa. During her time at UNI she played softball for the Panthers which is how she met her husband Jay, who was a fellow student athlete on the Panther football team. Their deep love for the Panthers is what brought them back to the Cedar Valley after Dr. Teply graduated from Iowa State with her DVM in 2018. Dr. Teply was always interested in the medical field and for most of her early life was torn between dental school and veterinary school but ultimately decided to pursue veterinary school because it allowed her to honor her passion for the human animal bond and dentistry at the same time. Dr. Teply is forever a golden retriever mom and her and Jay also have two human kids Cooper and Brooklyn. Dr. Teply is dedicated to making sure owners feel empowered, educated and supported when it comes to their pet’s health and her passion areas include dentistry, emergency medicine, alternative medicine and nutrition, wound management and pain management. Aside from her career as a veterinarian she also has a huge love for coaching and is the head softball coach at Cedar Falls High School. When not at the clinic or the ball diamond Dr. Teply enjoys golfing, spending time on the water, being creative and decorating her home for various holidays. Dr. Teply’s favorite food is sushi and her favorite animal is an orca whale. She is honored to serve the pets and families of the Cedar Valley and is excited by the ever present growth in the veterinary medicine space.
